About Stabletown

Built by someone you'll actually work with.

Stabletown is a founder-led company started by Patrick Dunstone. The premise: most of a community's spending leaks out — to chains, online platforms, and out-of-town processors — and the tools to do something about it have been either commodity gift cards or heavyweight municipal finance, with nothing in between. Stabletown builds that middle: programmable local-value programs that institutions can design, fund, operate, and measure.

How we work

Operating principles

Bounded pilots over big promises

Every engagement is fixed-scope with explicit go/no-go gates. If a program shouldn't proceed, the readiness assessment says so — that honesty is part of what customers pay for.

Rent the rails, own the program

Card networks, payment processors, and regulated execution already exist. Stabletown's work is the layer communities actually lack: program design, coalition formation, rules, operations, and measurement.

Regulated execution through qualified partners

Stabletown does not issue currency or securities, hold funds, or provide legal or municipal advisory services. When a program touches regulated territory, it routes through the professionals licensed for it.

Measurement that funders believe

Sponsors and councils fund what they can see. Every program is designed around evidence: circulation, participation, merchant outcomes, and honest reporting of what didn't work.

Founder-led means the person on your strategy call is the person who designs your program, facilitates your workshop, and answers your email. It also means we take on a small number of engagements and say no to the rest.
